UNLV Visiting Artist Lecture Series begins Thursday, September 1. Hernan Bas will give an artist lecture at the Marjorie Barrick Museum Auditorium at 7 PM. Jennifer Henry, FÊTED at The Cube, September 8 - October 29. 

KUSO Project at the Donna Beam Fine Art Gallery August 22-September 30. KUSO Project presents the artwork of 12 young Taiwanese artists. Kuso is the term used in East Asia for the Internet culture that generally includes all types of camp and parody. This exhibition explores the cultural phenomenon of today's online world through the creative vitality of a young generation. The show include painting, photography, sculpture, digital work, video, installation, and an interactive installation. It is presented in association with the Cultural Ministry of Taiwan and Hungkuang University. Reception September 1, 5-7 PM.

In Transition: Female Figurines from the Michael C. and Mannetta Braunstein Collection. This exhibition focuses on the female figurine, specifically those forms depicting the transition from maidenhood to motherhood. At the Marjorie Barrick Museum.

Call for Art

The College of Southern Nevada, Department of Fine Arts, Art & Art History Program is currently accepting exhibition proposals for its 2017 - 2018 Exhibition Season for the College’s Fine Arts Gallery and Artspace Gallery. Solo and group exhibitions of all media and genre will be considered. The deadline for proposals is September 15. Full prospectus here.

Surface Design Association member and non-member artists working in or inspired by fiber arts and/or textile media are invited to submit work for a juried issue of the Surface Design Journal entitled Crafting Community: SDA Inaugural International Exhibition in Print. Selected work will appear in print in the winter 2016 issue of the Surface Design Journal (publication date December 23, 2016). Deadline October 15. Link to call here.

BOX 13 ArtSpace is an artist run, non-profit, innovative environment for the creation and advancement of experimental contemporary art in Houston. BOX 13 ArtSpace is currently accepting proposals for 2017 – 2018 for exhibitions in its two Downstairs Galleries and Window BOX Gallery. Artists and curators are invited to submit recent (or proposed) experimental works not previously shown in Houston. The submission deadline is Sunday, September 25th, 2016. Read the call here.
